PLAIN ROLLS FROM AUNTIE1 pkg. Yeast ¼ cup water 1 cup milk, scalded ¼ cup sugar ¼ cup shortening 1 tsp. Salt 3 ½ cup flour 1 egg Soften yeast in warm water. Combine milk, sugar, shortening and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add 1 cup flour, beat well. Beat in softened yeast and egg. Gradually add rest of flour to form soft dough, beating well. Cover and let rise in warm place till doubled, 1 ½ to 2 hours. Turn out to shape. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes. |
