Door Installation Tips

Tools and materials required:

• Utility knife or box cutter
• Roller
• Waterproof, plastic barrier from door (to use as template)
• Mineral spirits or other solvent (to clean door surface)
• Rag for mineral spirits
• Pry bar to remove interior paneling
• Screw driver to remove screws from door paneling
• Measuring device (optional)
• Dynamat or other dampening material
• Cutting surface

Notes:

• The edges of the dampening material can be very sharp.  Be careful when installing.
• Be sure that any moving parts are not impeded by the dampening material (especially important when installing in doors).
• Look at the back of plastic interior door panel, note any parts that stick out, and make sure that you leave areas open for those parts (especially crucial when large pieces of styrofoam or other insulating material fit into large holes in metal door panel).
• Remember that this is a long, slow process. Take your time for best results.
