HOCKS’N KRAUT WITH APPLE2 1-Lb. Cans sauerkraut 2 Tbsp. Brown sugar ½ tsp. Caraway seeds 1 unpared large tart apple, sliced 1 medium onion, sliced 4 large smoked ham hocks (about 3 lbs.) With kitchen shears, snip through kraut several times while still in cans to cut up long strips. In a greased 2-quart casserole, combine kraut, brown sugar and caraway seed. Fold in apple slices. Layer onion slices over kraut mixture. Top with ham hocks. Cover and bake in slow oven (325) for 3 ½ - 4 hrs. |
